My travels….2024

I have always loved travelling, visiting new places, eating the local cuisines and basically getting to know a bit about the culture of the place. I have had the opportunity to travel quite extensively first with my husband and then with our whole family. We always tried to go on a couple of holidays a year…..usually one to the West so Europe, England or America and then one to the East so that covered Thailand, Singapore and Australia. Now as the children grow up, grandkids are born and scheduling a trip becomes more like a mathematical formula we sometimes have to put the family holidays on hold and take other trips. Now Vinay has changed from the intrepid explorer that he was into preferring trips closer to home where ideally he doesn’t have to do more than get up, go sit by the pool and the biggest decision is whether to drink red,white or rose wine!!! The places of choice are the Maldives, Goa or Thailand and now even that is a bit iffy because the flights to Thailand all go at unearthly hours in the middle of the night!!!! Whilst I love these holidays too I have also found the joys of going on holidays with my ‘girlie’ gang. So we are a group of 7-8 like minded friends who love to travel and we try to make one trip a year with our besties. These trips initially started out to Phuket and Koh Samui and then we ventured a little further to Bali and then the world opened up and we went on a Mediterranean cruise followed by a Baltic cruise so the world is our oyster and there are so many places to see it is exciting!!! On top of all these I have my yearly trips to my hometown Manchester to see my sister and her family and our full extended family that live there. So you could say I have wheels on my feet and I love it!!!!

Last year my husband was talking to friends and said that I had travelled something like 10 times which was a slight exaggregated…. It was actually only about 6!!! So I decided that in 2024 I actually would like to go on at least one trip a month….they didn’t all need to be fancy destinations but I needed to get out of Kolkata once a month and can you believe it….it is now almost May and unconsciously I am right on track!!!!
