So, Vivek and Rashi are both married. Both have 2 children each and Aradhana has one little boy and hoping she will have a little girl along the line…. I thought my family is complete. 3 sons, 3 daughters, 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters…..perfect!! Little did I know.
Siya has totally gone on her Bhua. She is obsessed about dogs, cats and in fact all animals. Both Siya and Vivaan would go on and on about getting a dog. They convinced their father and the next big job was to convince their Dadu. For a week they sent WhatsApp messages to him daily with “ please” written 100 times or the folded hand emoji 100 times. They were relentless and it finally paid off and he agreed. Before you could blink they came home with a little golden Labrador who was small and cute but he has now grown big and handsome. It was such a coincidence when they named him Lex, short for Lexington as this was the name of my friends dog who Rashi used to go and play with. Luckily Neha , who never really liked dogs earlier, fell in love with him the day he came and that was so important as she is the one looking after him all day. He is such a clever boy… he follows Neha around all day but waits for Vivek to come home and then totally changes his colours and sticks to him. The fact that Vivek gives him a treat when he comes home from the office obviously helps! Then at night he just wants Siya and refuses to sleep anywhere else. She even lets him sleep on her beloved Toyu, a doll she’s had since birth which is actually ready to be binned but then Neha has to restuff her and patch her up. Lex is extremely sensitive and caring as all Labs are known to be. When I had a surgery he used to come down to my room and sit at my feet in the sitting room and when I used to go for a walk in the corridor he would very patiently walk beside me the whole time. Similarly when Vivek broke his ankle he would lie next to him on the bed never touching the injured area and watch over hm all day. He instantly knows when people don’t like him… he gives them a very disdainful look and turns away before they can shoo him away. It’s like “ you don’t like me… well mister I don’t like you first!!!”
Then of course the children decided that Lex needed company… as though there weren’t enough people in the house already!! Vivek was adamant that the only dog worth getting was a big dog and Neha wanted a small cuddly dog. Vinay and and I went to Phuket for 6 days and on the
4th day they do a video call and Vivaan was holding a little puppy. I thought they were joking and it was his friend’s puppy so I didn’t give it much thought but when we reached home they introduced our new “ grandson” Theo short of course for Theodore. He is a Jack Russel Terrier and is actually very cute. He curls up and sleeps on my lap and the only reason I have to send him off is because he is still not housetrained so I really can’t go through kids peeing or pooping over me. He is extremely curious and full of energy and poor Lex doesn’t know what has hit hm. He likes to just sit and chill and this little monster just wants to play so our entertainment at the moment is seeing Lex running away from Theo and Thero chasing him and troubling him. Lex is also feeling a bit… no I must say a lot… jealous of the baby so we have to be careful to give some extra attention to Lex. It’s exactly like going back to when we brought Rashi home or Vivaan home. Dogs have the exact same feelings as us so we really need to take care of them.

So now, Alia is feeling really left out as she has been going on and on about getting a dog for the longest. She has really inherited her mother’s genes also so she used to come to Alipore straight from school and very grudgingly leave when it was time for squash practice. Here again the family finally relented… the things we do for our grandchildren!! And so welcome to the family … Little Millie who is a golden Cocker Spaniel. She is just gorgeous and soft and cuddly. Both Neha and Rashi are totally sleep deprived and exhausted from trying to train these babies and the only conversation I hear is
“ does Millie pee on the pee pad?” Or “does Theo poop inside or outside?” It’s hilarious listening to their conversations!! Millie is a little shoe thief… she has about 5 odd shoes from all over the house in her pen at any given time… she always just picks up one and runs and hides it… she never picks up both the shoes!!! The best part is that we both share the same birthday… what a coincidence and it’s like destiny pushed us together!! How life changes. And the icing on the cake is that I don’t have to worry about anything. I just play with them when I like and for as long as I like … they are not my responsibility!! Famous last words!!!
