Carrying the WEIGHT of the world!!!

A book came out a few years ago called ‘ Confessions of a Serial Dieter’. I swear that I could have been the lead character in that book a hundred times over. If you are scared of roller coasters in amusement parks then you haven’t seen anything yet!!  My weight has gone up and down like a yo-yo. In fact my mother in law summed it up perfectly…. She once said ‘ Suni is like a balloon… when she wants to,  she fills herself up with air and at other times she takes all the air out!!’ If only it were that simple!!! You name a diet and I have been on it… Weight Watchers, Atkins, Cabbage Soup, No carb, No Protein, No food . There was one which was red day and green day, Intermittent…. The list is endless and I have tried them all!!! I always said that I would like to be wearing a size 0 pair of jeans when I die… but out of those 2 things only one is going to happen and you know what that is.

My life consisted of dieting, going on holiday, putting on weight and then dieting again. After having lived for 66 years I have now accepted myself for what I am. I have even kept different size clothes in various suitcases and being the methodical person that I am, I have labelled each suitcase. I keep on hoping that I will one day have to take down one of the smaller size cases but unfortunately it’s not happening!! What is the point of starving myself and being miserable the whole time. I enjoy my food… I enjoy eating in good restaurants… I enjoy a nice drink. I do my yoga 4-5 days a week, I try to walk 10,000 steps a day and I manage to play (bad) golf twice a week. I hope that my exercise part is covered. So now I reckon I can eat, drink and be merry. Ok so I’m not saying that if you have a health problem you neglect it… no way … but just don’t join that merry go round where everyone is trying to be thinner than the next person. Be proud of what you are as a human being… that is ultimately the most important. I console myself by saying that if God wanted everyone to be thin he wouldn’t have invented doughnuts and pizza!!!

What an honest, humourous acceptance of what we are Suni. Time to give the suitcases of clothes away of different sizes. And should you change size again, go shopping for new clothes ! Keep the posts coming, it makes my day. Regards Sunil.

I am the same. My life is like a pendulum swinging from thin to not so thin(hahaha!). Now I try. 🤷🏽‍♀️. If it works, it works!!!! I just give up!!! My body needs just 1 extra breath to fill up. It’s just so frustrating!!!!😡 so I identify completely with you.
