FILM REVIEW…. COCKTAIL 2

I knew that I had seen the first Cocktail film starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika (I didn’t remember Diana Penty) and I knew that I really enjoyed it so I was very keen to see Cocktail 2. The only thing I remembered was the song Tumhi ho bandhu… call it signs of old age or early signs of Alzheimer’s but my memory has become non existent. I watch a series on Netflix one evening and the next day I struggle to recall the name… though once I restart it it thankfully comes back. Anyway… so when Cocktail 2 came Vinay was not so keen on seeing it but he agreed to go if we went out for dinner after so that’s exactly what we did!!

I really enjoyed the film and I was smiling pretty much all the way through. It is a light easy romcom … with Shahid Kapoor, Kirti Sanon and Rashmika Mandana. There is of course a love triangle… we have to have that in a Bollywood film!! However Shahid and Kirti ( who by the way is smoking hot in this film!!) were really good and both carried the film. So ok… maybe there were slightly too many songs and maybe the plot was predictable… no strike that maybe.. it definitely was… however the film was entertaining and you were not bored. Since we were going out for dinner after the film we both abstained from eating anything… Vinay his papri chaat and me my popcorn but I didn’t miss it as I was enjoying the film. So my verdict is that it is definitely a one time watch… don’t go thinking you will see a life changing film… it is entertaining and the locations are beautiful so what more do you want?

We saw another film a couple of days earlier and I didn’t bother to review it. It was Bharat  Bhhagya Viddhaata  starring Kangana Ranaut. Firstly the name of the film is odd and the film itself is very average. It is about how the nurses and staff of Cama Hospital in Mumbai save their patients during the Mumbai terrorist attack in 2008. There have been a multitude of films on this subject, the terrorist attack that is and this one just gets lost in those. Most of the filming is done in the dark so it is difficult to figure out what is happening and the story is ‘been there seen it’. We in fact left before it finished just because we couldn’t be bothered to stay longer so this is one film you can definitely skip. The intention was good but just didn’t live up to it unfortunately.

Cocktail 2 Kriti Sanon is my favourite, so cant wait to see in the cinemas here. Thanks for the detailed review Suni and lowering our expectations.
